Can my item be engraved?

Yes. We engrave on the reverse of the steel medical alert plate.

Up to 3 lines with maximum of 25 characters per line

The engraving plate is there for the essential, critical information paramedics, first responders and potentially even members of the public or schools need in an emergency. In the event of an emergency, the universal medical alert symbol on the front of your bracelet will alert medics to vital information. The plate is easily flipped over to reveal the engraving.

We suggest you include:

  1. Your name
  2. Any CRITICAL medical conditions, allergies or drugs that might affect how you are treated in an emergency (such as blood thinners)
  3. An ICE contact number - preferably a mobile

ICE stands for 'In Case of Emergency'. Emergency Services are also trained to look for ICE contacts in your phone so make sure it's in there too. Both android and iPhones will allow access to ICE contacts even when the phones are locked.

Who is my bracelet named after?

Mary Seacole – The War Heroine.

Mary Seacole was a British-Jamaican Nurse in the 1800s, who started as a healer in Jamaica before travelling to the UK.

During the Crimean War, Mary requested to be sent as an army nurse to care for the injured soldiers, but she was refused. Determined, she decided to go on her own, funding her trip herself and establishing the British Hotel.

There, she cared for the sick, injured, and recovering soldiers, often visiting the battlefield to care for the wounded there.
Seacole was celebrated as widely as Florence Nightingale, but following her death in 1881, her story was ignored and forgotten.

Her North London grave was rediscovered by Caribbean Nurses in 1973, but it was not until the 21st Century that Britain began to recognise her achievements properly.

In 2003, she was named as the Greatest Black Briton following a nationwide vote, and in 2016, a memorial statue of Seacole was erected in London. Most importantly, her story is now part of the National Curriculum.
