Can my item be engraved?
Yes. We engrave on the reverse of the steel medical alert plate.
Up to 3 lines with maximum of 25 characters per line
The engraving plate is there for the essential, critical information paramedics, first responders and potentially even members of the public or schools need in an emergency. In the event of an emergency, the universal medical alert symbol on the front of your bracelet will alert medics to vital information. The plate is easily flipped over to reveal the engraving.
We suggest you include:
- Your name
- Any CRITICAL medical conditions, allergies or drugs that might affect how you are treated in an emergency (such as blood thinners)
- An ICE contact number - preferably a mobile
ICE stands for 'In Case of Emergency'. Emergency Services are also trained to look for ICE contacts in your phone so make sure it's in there too. Both android and iPhones will allow access to ICE contacts even when the phones are locked.

Who is my bracelet named after?
Elizabeth Garrett Anderson 1836-1917
Britain’s first female doctor.
Today, well over half of all graduates from British medical schools are female, yet just a century and a half ago there existed not a single female doctor. It took a steely Londoner called Elizabeth Garrett to change centuries of accepted male prejudice.
Elizabeth Garrett was born in Whitechapel, East London on 9th June 1836.Her father ran a local pawnbroker’s shop at the time of her birth, but five years later purchased a corn and coal warehouse in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. The business was a great success, and within a decade he became a wealthy man and was able to send all of his twelve children to boarding school.
Elizabeth went to school in Blackheath and during her time in London became interested in feminist issues, her meeting with Emily Davies in 1854 providing the catalyst. In 1859 she met Elizabeth Blackwell, the Bristol-born American who became the world’s first female doctor, and resolved to become a doctor herself. After initial hostility, her father, a strong advocate of education, became very supportive of her aspiration.
I bought one for a relative and one for me. They are really lovely, well made with clear engraving. We are both very happy!
